Oschadbank files claim against Russia with ECRH
KYIV. Dec 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The state-owned Oschadbank (Kyiv) on December 8 completed expert legal work on the damage caused by Russia and filed a claim against the Russian Federation with the European Court of Human Rights (ECRH), the bank’s press service reported on Friday.
According to the report, as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, Oschadbank suffered damage, in particular, many of its branches were destroyed and damaged, and the bank itself suffered significant losses.
"Oshchadbank’s systemic work on documenting war crimes made it possible to apply internationally recognized legal mechanisms aimed at restoring justice and punishing the aggressor," the bank said in the report.
Oschadbank was founded in 1991. Its sole owner is the state.
According to the statistics of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), as of November 1, 2022, Oschadbank ranked second among 67 banks operating in the country in terms of total assets (UAH 270.806 billion).
