KYIV. Sept 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde expressed regret that it was not possible to reach consensus on the extension of the mandate of the OSCE Observer Mission at the Russian border checkpoints Gukovo and Donetsk on the border with Ukraine, which is an important component of the OSCE response to the crisis in and around Ukraine.
According to the OSCE press service, the current mandate of the Mission expires on September 30, 2021, and on September 2, the Russian Federation informed that it would not support the extension of the mandate of the Observer Mission.
"Deeply regret Russia’s decision not to join consensus to extend the Observer Mission on Russia/Ukraine border. As Chair, we continue to support OSCE conflict resolution efforts & stress need for full implementation of the Minsk agreements," Linde said on Twitter.
