OSAGO premiums of MTIBU member insurers grow by 14.4%, payments by 31.2% in Jan-July

KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The insurance companies that are members of the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine (MTIBU) in January-June 2021 increased collection of insurance premiums under the policies of compulsory insurance of civil liability of land vehicle owners (OSAGO) by 14.36% compared to the same period of 2020, to UAH 4.011 billion, in particular under electronic policies UAH 2.134 billion was collected (55.36% more).

According to the data posted on the MTIBU’s website, during this period the companies entered into 5.225 million OSAGO agreements, which is 7.92% more than in the same period a year earlier. Of the total volume of the policies, 2.499 million were electronic ones (50.7% more).

The total amount of accrued insurance claims under internal insurance policies in January-June 2021 rose by 31.16%, to over UAH 2 billion.

The bureau also recorded an increase in the number of settled claims for insurance compensation by 21.8%, to 98,300, in particular 35,337 claims were settled using the EU accident report form (29.66% more).

The MTIBU is the only association of insurers that provide compulsory insurance of civil liability of land vehicle owners for damage caused to third parties.
