Operation of law on special procedure for self-government in ORDO, ORLO may be extended – Korniyenko

KYIV. Nov 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The operation of the law on a special procedure for local self-government in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions may be extended, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniyenko has said.

"I just spoke with Kostin yesterday [head of the parliamentary committee on legal policy Andriy Kostin], he is now our chief in the TCG [trilateral contact group for resolving the situation in the East of Ukraine], as the first deputy [chairman of the TCG]. This happened while Leonid Makarovych [Kravchuk] was still undergoing treatment. We agreed this week or next to hold the necessary meetings, consultations with the president, with Andriy Yermak [head of the President’s Office], who oversees the peace process, in order to come to a decision on this law. I think everyone is aware of the subject and there is no need once again say why it should be renewed every year. Formally, it is a marker for the Russian side that we remain in the Minsk process. The law is not valid, not a single article comes into force. It is only renewed annually," Korniyenko said in an exclusive interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
