Olena Zelenska to open 'Ukraine 30. Children's Summit' on Tuesday
KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On Tuesday, December 7, first lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska will open the all-Ukrainian forum "Ukraine 30. Children’s Summit", which will be held with the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
"The main goal of the summit is to create a platform for dialogue on the development of children’s rights in Ukraine, when young people, together with representatives of government, society and business, seek solutions and mobilize partners to create a better, more inclusive and sustainable future for children in Ukraine," the press service of the forum reports.
The Forum will be opened by First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska. UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore, Head of UNICEF Office in Ukraine Murat Sahin will also take the floor, and 16-year-old Viktoria Kravets from Lviv will present children.
In the first session of the forum "What does it Mean to be a Child in Ukraine?" Minister of Social Policy Maryna Lazebna, Minister of Health Viktor Liashko, Minister of Education and Science Serhiy Shkarlet, Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrsky, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada Liudmyla Denisova and Adviser – Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children’s Rights and Children’s Rehabilitation Daria Herasymchuk.
During the second session, the ceremony of awarding the status "Community Friendly to Children and Youth" will take place. I will give the floor to the representative of this initiative in the world, Mayor of Weil am Rhein Wolfgang Dietz. Also, the ceremony will be attended by Minister of Social Policy Maryna Lazebna, Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Chernyshov, Minister of Youth and Sports Vadym Gutzeit, as well as the leadership of the cities of Lviv, Vinnytsia, Bakhmut.
"Dialogues about the Main Things: How to Protect Childhood" is the topic of the third session of the forum. Speakers will talk about the right of children to a family, the right to equal opportunities, the right to health and safety. Student of the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy", Mykyta Kopyltsov, will perform on the main stage on behalf of the youth. Also, the floor will be given by UNICEF Ambassador for Inclusion Janis McDavid, UNICEF Child Protection Program Manager Naira Avetisyan, UNICEF Project Manager for Social Policy Natalia Borodchuk, UNICEF Medical Expert Kateryna Bulavinova and others.
At the fourth session "Rethinking the Future for Every Child – New Challenges and Opportunities", 14-year-old Illarion Tsertiy from Novoukrainka will perform on the main stage. In addition, a discussion will be held on the topic, speaker of which will be Executive Director of the European Business Association Anna Derevianko, founder of "See with your heart" NGO Olesya Yaskevych and others.
A press approach is also planned during the event.
