Odesa seaport cuts cargo handling by 7.5% in Jan-Aug
KYIV. Sept 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Odesa seaport in January-August 2021 handled 14.458 million tonnes of cargo, which is 7.47% less than in the same period in 2020.
According to the data on the website of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), in January-August 2021, the port reduced the transshipment of export cargo by 15.25% compared to January-August 2020, to 9.573 million tonnes, increased imported cargo handling by 18.59%, to 4.042 million tonnes, transit cargo grew by 1.66%, to 773,510 tonnes, and reduced the coastal transshipment by 56.8%, to 68,910 tonnes.
Transshipment of liquid cargo in Odesa seaport for the specified period grew by 47.29%, to 1.806 million tonnes, dry and bulk cargo fell by 13.37%, to 4.178 million tonnes, packaged cargo – by 11.5%, to 8.474 million tonnes.
The transshipment of containers in January-August 2021 amounted to 443,209 TEU (an increase of 4.69%).
As reported, in 2020, Odesa seaport handled 23.370 million tonnes of cargo, which is 7.8% less than in 2019.
