Number of credit unions in Ukraine in Q3 decreases by 38.1% – NBU

KYIV. Nov 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – As of September 30, 2022, some 179 credit unions were registered in Ukraine, which is 38.1% less than on the same date a year earlier (289), according to the website of the National Bank of Ukraine.

At the same time, it is emphasized that 145 credit unions submitted reports to the regulator.

The number of members of credit unions also decreased – from 379,800 at the end of the third quarter of 2021 to 308,000 people at the reporting date of this year. Of these, 8,600 of their members have contributions to deposit accounts of credit unions, which is 44.2% less than a year earlier. The number of those in debt on loans decreased by 40.4%, to 51,800 people.

The assets of credit unions as of September 30, 2022 amounted to UAH 1.524 billion (down 37.5% on the same date a year earlier), capital – UAH 637.7 million (down 37.9%), income – UAH 425.5 million (down 38.7%), expenses – UAH 407.3 million (down 36.7%).

During the reporting period, members of credit unions were granted loans in the amount of UAH 1.345 billion. At the same time, over nine months, the volume of loans issued amounted to UAH 738.3 million, which is 2.4 times less than in January-September 2021. Contributions of members to deposit accounts amounted to UAH 717.5 million and UAH 513.6 million, respectively.
