Not all Ukrainians wishing to be vaccinated know where to do it – WHO Representative in Ukraine

KYIV. Sept 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Not all Ukrainians who want to be vaccinated against COVID-19 know where to do it and where to go, representative of the World Health Organization (WHO), head of the WHO Office in Ukraine, Dr. Jarno Habicht said.

"We found out another interesting fact: not all Ukrainians, even those interested in vaccination, know exactly where they need to go to get vaccinated. The problem in the first months of the vaccination campaign was that there was not enough vaccine. But now, starting with August, there should be enough vaccine in Ukraine," he said in an exlusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, now in Ukraine there are more than ten million doses of vaccine against COVID-19, by the end of this year another 15-20 million doses should be delivered. "And now it is very important to accelerate the pace of vaccination to achieve both global and Ukrainian goals," the WHO representative in Ukraine said.

Habicht said that "all groups of the population need to think about how to organize the process so that it is easy to get vaccinated."

"We started vaccination at the end of February, used mobile teams, later stationary vaccination points were added, and only in early summer vaccination centers started to appear, which are now available in almost all regions of Ukraine," he said.

According to him, 23% of vaccines in Ukraine were administered in large vaccination centers, 46% – in fixed inpatient points, 31% – by mobile teams.
