Next German chancellor says he concerned about movement of Russian forces along Ukrainian border
BERLIN. Dec 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Next German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he was concerned about the movement of Russian forces near the Ukrainian border.
According to him, Germany, himself and "many others are very concerned about the movement of forces that are observed at the Ukrainian border."
"Therefore, it should be clear: the situation will become unacceptable if there is a threat to Ukraine," he said.
According to Scholz, U.S. President Joe Biden will definitely point this out in an upcoming conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The legal basis for the settlement of such potentially conflict situations in Europe is the provisions of the OSCE, the next chancellor said.
In turn, Green Party co-chair Robert Habeck, who will be Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Economy and Climate, said that he was in the east of Ukraine, and, according to him, all efforts of international mediators should be aimed at a political settlement of the conflict.
"There are confrontations, but what is threatening now is a new dimension of the conflict and this must be prevented," Habeck said.
