New NBU governor ready to bring personnel improvements, but without revolutionary changes
KYIV. Nov 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Andriy Pyshny, who headed the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) a month ago, lists the final team formation among his immediate priorities: he is ready to bring personnel improvements, but without revolutionary changes.
"I can say with confidence that today one of the most powerful analytical teams, responsible teams has been formed. The knowledge bases that the National Bank and staff operate today make it possible to make difficult, but quite reasonable and justified decisions, therefore, one should not expect any revolutionary changes," Pyshny said at an NBU press briefing on Monday.
He added that he only intends to further develop the level of expertise and the level of policy and carefully evaluate the professional level of the staff.
"I am also ready to bring certain improvements and, quite possibly, they will be accompanied, among other things, by new appointments, new changes in the organizational structure. All this will be subordinated to one single goal: a cohesive responsible team and efficiency," the new NBU governor said.
He recalled that after being approved as a member of the Board of the National Bank, Dmytro Oliynyk, Director of the Economic Policy Directorate of the President’s Office, was appointed to oversee prudential supervision.
Pyshny also stressed that he intends to avoid conflict relations in the NBU leadership, which were under his predecessor.
