New McDonald's restaurant opens near Kyiv

KYIV. Nov 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – McDonald’s opened a new restaurant in the village of Lisnyky (Kyiv region) on Monday, the company’s press service told Interfax-Ukraine.

The opening of this location was scheduled for March this year, the main construction and development work was completed in February. There are 111 seats for guests in the hall and 136 more on the terrace.

The company clarifies that all restaurants operate under updated security protocols. The establishment closes during an air raid and resumes work an hour after its cancellation. Also, the restaurant will not work during a power outage.

As reported, on September 20, McDonald’s began a phased opening of restaurants in Ukraine. As of November 7, the McDonald’s chain in Ukraine has 53 restaurants, of which 40 operate in the capital and Kyiv region. As Interfax-Ukraine was informed, another restaurant is planned to open this week in Kyiv and the new city as part of a campaign to restore the chain.

Until February 24, the McDonald’s Ukraine chain consisted of 109 restaurants in 24 cities of the country.

The chain’s restaurants in Ukraine closed on February 24, 2022 due to security concerns due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The company supported a team of more than 10,000 people by continuing to pay salaries. In addition, over 700 tonnes of products from warehouses and restaurants worth more than UAH 70 million were donated for humanitarian needs.

The chain is being developed by FDI McDonald’s Ukraine Ltd. The first establishment was opened on May 24, 1997 in Kyiv.

According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs, MCD Europe Limited (100%, London, UK) is a FDI participant.
