New construction of non-residential buildings up by 28.1% in H 2021 – statistics

KYIV. Sept 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The total area of non-residential buildings for which construction permits (new construction) were issued in January-June 2021 increased by 28.1% compared to the same period in 2020 and amounted to 2.13 million square meters, the State Statistics Service reported.

So, in the first half of the year 782,000 square meters accounted for industrial buildings and warehouses, 724,300 square meters – for retail space, 132,300 sq m – for office buildings, 123,300 sq m – buildings for public performances, educational, medical and recreational facilities, 226,100 sq m – other non-residential buildings.

In addition, 66,300 sq m accounted for hotels, restaurants and similar buildings, as well as 79,200 square meters – for buildings of transport and communications.

According to the State Statistics Service, the leaders in terms of the volume of new construction of non-residential buildings are Odesa (297,100 square meters), Kyiv (265,300 square meters) and Lviv (252,900 square meters) regions.

The lowest rates of new construction were recorded in Donetsk (13,400 square meters), Sumy (24,400 square meters), Mykolaiv (31,100 square meters), Kirovohrad (34,400 square meters), Poltava (35,300 sq m) regions.

In Kyiv, permits for the construction of 100,500 square meters of non-residential buildings were obtained in the six months.

According to the statistics department, in 2020, the total area of non-residential buildings in Ukraine, for which permits for construction work (new construction) were issued, decreased 2.4 times compared to the previous year and amounted to 2.2 million square meters. m.

The State Statistics Service reminds that the figures are given without taking into account the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol and part of the temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
