NEURC imposes more than UAH 6.8 mln in fines on energy companies during year of war – commission member
KYIV. March 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) imposed 70 fines totaling more than UAH 6.8 million on companies violating regulations and license conditions in the energy sector during the year of the war.
“The commission conducted 185 inspections of licensees for justified appeals from household consumers about violation of their legal rights and interests. Based on the results of the inspections, 70 decisions were made to impose penalties in the amount of more than UAH 6.8 million and 58 orders regarding the need to eliminate about 240 violations,” said the regulator, with reference to its member Olha Babiy.
During the round table organized by the office of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights (Ombudsman) on World Consumer Rights Day, Babiy noted that in general, during the year of the war, the NEURC received about 17,500 individual and collective appeals from citizens from all regions of Ukraine.
According to her, all of them were considered, the authors were provided with answers and measures for state regulation were implemented within the competence of the regulator.
“We call on all consumers, in case of violation of their legal rights and interests in obtaining services in the markets of electricity, natural gas, in the field of utilities, to apply to the NEURC with substantiated complaints. We will certainly consider them and respond accordingly,” the member of the commission emphasized.
