Negotiations on evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from Afghanistan lasted several days – presidential press service

KYIV. Sept 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – International negotiations on the evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from Kabul (Afghanistan) continued for several days, and on the evening of September 23, a plane with about 100 people landed at the Boryspil airport (Kyiv), the press service of the President of Ukraine reported.

"Ukrainian diplomats, representatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Defense Ministry, and the Office of the President of Ukraine secured approval for the possibility of evacuating Ukrainian citizens and their relatives. Representatives of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Turkish Republic, Qatar, and Afghanistan took an active part in these negotiations. The negotiations ended successfully on the morning of September 23, and a civil plane took off from the airport in the city of Kabul," the press service said.

The international talks lasted for several days, it said.

The evacuees included 30 Ukrainian citizens, nine people with Ukrainian residency permits, 18 citizens of the Vatican, two Canadian citizens, and members of their families.
