NBU net sales fall to $441.1 mln last week
KYIV. Dec 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Net sales of U.S. dollars by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) after four weeks of growth this week fell to $441.1 million from $834.1 million a week earlier.
According to the information of the National Bank on its website, from December 19 to December 23, it purchased $8.0 million, which corresponds to the usual purchase volumes during the war, while it sold $449.1 million compared to $841.4 million a week earlier.
In the cash market, the U.S. dollar rose in price by about 40 kopiikas by the end of the week, to about UAH 40.35/$1 with a very slight spread expansion, having returned to the level of a month ago.
As reported, the volume of interventions of the National Bank in November decreased to $1.57 billion from $2.03 billion in October, $2.75 billion in September, while international reserves increased by 10.7% to $27.42 billion.
In general, from the beginning of the year to December 23 inclusive, the NBU purchased $3.258 billion and EUR 111.0 million on the market, and sold $25.279 billion and EUR 1.789 billion.
Including since the beginning of the war, the purchase of foreign currency has reached $2.602 billion and EUR 111.0 million, and the sale – $22.509 billion and EUR 1.789 billion.
