NBU estimates average price of gas and oil in 2022 at $ 460/1,000 cubic meters, $ 67/barrel
KYIV. Dec 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) in its forecasts for 2022 lays down the average price of natural gas at about $ 460 per 1,000 cubic meters, for oil – $ 67 per barrel of Brent, Deputy Governor of the NBU Sergiy Nikolaychuk said at a briefing in Kyiv.
"So far we have not revised the forecasts that we published in our traditional October inflation report. As for gas, we are just seeing a peak in prices, more precisely, the peak was a month or two ago. Next year, and especially in the first half, we expect their further correction," he said.
Nikolaychuk pointed out that the average gas price of about $ 460 per 1,000 cubic meters is more than twice as low as in the fourth quarter, but higher than in the previous several years.
According to him, the level of gas prices this fall turned out to be higher than the forecasts of the National Bank.
"As for the oil price, it will be close to the current level, we include in our forecasts the price of $ 67 per barrel for Brent," the deputy head of the NBU added.
