NBU declares Prominvestbank as problem bank due to violation of NSFR standard
KYIV. Aug 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has classified Prominvestbank (PIB, Kyiv) as problem for violating the net stable financing ratio (NSFR) since April 2021.
The corresponding decision was made by the NBU on May 11, according to the data provided by Prominvestbank when the District Administrative Court of Kyiv considered the case against CJSC Fortuna, connected with Ihor Kolomoisky, the Finbalance information resource reported with reference to the state register.
It is indicated that PIB should bring the NSFR back to normal within 120 days.
The National Bank of Ukraine declined to comment on the current status of PIB, citing bank secrecy.
"Information about banks or bank clients, collected from banks in the course of banking supervision, constitutes bank secrecy and is not subject to disclosure… The decision of the National Bank of Ukraine to classify the bank as a problem bank is a bank secret," the press service told Interfax-Ukraine.
As reported, the NBU introduced the NSFR standard at the level of 80% from April 1, 2021, with a phased increase to 100% in April 2022.
Prominvestbank violated the specified standard at the beginning of April (29.45%), May (27.43%), June (27.49%) and July (28.37%). At the same time, as of August 1, PIB did not violate the standard and the indicator was 98.13%.
PJSC Prominvestbank was founded in 1992. VEB became the owner of PIB in 2008, it owns 99.7726% of its shares. It estimates its investments in the development of the subsidiary bank at $ 2.7 billion.
According to the National Bank of Ukraine, as of June 1, 2021, in terms of total assets (UAH 29.079 billion) Prominvestbank ranked 14th among 73 operating banks.
