NBU auction on 90-day refinancing fails
KYIV. Aug 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The auction for refinancing banks for up to 90 days, which the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) holds every Friday, did not take place for the second time in a row, the regulator said.
According to the statistics of the National Bank, in general, since April 30, 2020, it has held 62 auctions for 90-day refinancing for a total amount of about UAH 73.5 billion. The tenders scheduled for June 5, July 10 and September 11, 2020, as well as for March 12, May 7, July 23 and August 20, 2021, did not take place due to a lack of bids.
In addition, since May 8, 2020, the NBU has held 14 tenders for refinancing for a period of one to five years for a total amount of about UAH 82 billion and two auctions for a period of one to three years for a total of UAH 6.8 billion.
According to the schedule of tenders published on the central bank’s website, the next refinancing auction for a period of up to 90 days will take place on September 3, and for a period of one to three years – on September 10.
