NATO ready to respond to situation on Russian-Ukrainian border – Stoltenberg
WASHINGTON. Nov 15 (Interfax) – NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said that the North Atlantic Alliance is closely monitoring the development of the situation on the border between Russia and Ukraine and is ready to respond to changes in the situation.
He said on the HBO TV channel on the air of Axios on HBO program that they are closely watching the unusual movements of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine.
He noted that the alliance is on the alert and ready for any development of the situation.
At the same time, the secretary general admitted that Ukraine is disappointed that the earlier promise to join the country to the NATO membership action plan for protection from Russia has not been fulfilled yet.
Stoltenberg explained that membership can only be achieved if all 30 member countries support it.
