NATO, EU, Ukraine procurement experts to discuss supply of weapons necessary for Ukraine's victory – Stoltenberg
BRUSSELS. Feb 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said that procurement experts of the Alliance, the European Union and Ukraine will hold a joint meeting to discuss the ways of supplying Ukraine with weapons necessary for its victory in the war unleashed by Russia.
This decision was made during his meeting with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell and Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba at the NATO headquarters in Brussels on Tuesday.
“We also agreed today to convene a meeting of NATO, EU and Ukrainian procurement experts to see what more we can do together to ensure Ukraine has the weapons it needs,” Stoltenberg said at a press conference following the meeting.
In addition, upon Ukraine’s request, the parties have agreed “that NATO should assist Ukraine to develop a procurement system that is effective, transparent and accountable.”
According to Stoltenberg, the participants of the meeting discussed the need to ramp up production, improve procurement systems, and to continue supporting Ukraine.
“This has become a grinding war of attrition, a battle of logistics. And key capabilities must reach Ukraine before Russia can seize the momentum,” he said.
