Naftogaz confirms resumption of oil transportation by Ukrtransnafta to Slovakia and Hungary

KYIV. Aug 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – NJSC Naftogaz confirmed the resumption of oil transportation by JSC Ukrtransnafta through the Ukrainian section of the Druzhba trunk oil pipeline in the direction of Slovakia and Hungary.

The company posted the corresponding message on the website on Thursday evening.

They also clarified that on August 10, Ukrtransnafta received a payment for transportation services from the Hungarian oil company MOL and at 16:30 Kyiv time, after the funds had been credited to the account, resumed oil transportation through the Ukrainian section of the pipeline.

At the same time, Naftogaz noted that they did not have information about transit payments from the Czech Republic.

Ukrtransnafta has not received an official letter from Transneft stating that Mero, which manages the section of the Druzhba oil pipeline in this country, will pay for transit to the Czech Republic.

At the same time, Naftogaz confirmed that Ukrtransnafta was forced to stop the transit of Russian oil through the Ukrainian section of the Druzhba main oil pipeline due to the failure of Transneft to pay an advance payment for oil transportation.

"The agreement between Ukrtransnafta and Transneft on the provision of transportation services provides for the transfer of oil at 100% advance payment. Therefore, transportation is possible only with advance payment for such services," the company explained.

Ukrtransnafta continues to fulfill its contractual obligations in the standard mode, Naftogaz stressed.
