Naftogaz confirms damage to gas production facilities in eastern Ukraine
KYIV. Nov 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Naftogaz Ukrainy CEO Oleksiy Chernyshov has confirmed "massive shelling of gas production infrastructure" belonging to Ukrgazvydobuvannia (UGV) in the east of Ukraine on Thursday morning, the national oil and gas company released on Telegram.
"Several destroyed sites are now known, and others have been damaged to varying degrees. UGV specialists arrived swiftly at the damaged sites. They are now assessing the aftermath and the scale of the attack. Information on victims is also being established," Chernyshov was quoted as saying by the Naftogaz press service.
The State Emergencies Service of Ukraine has already extinguished a fire that broke out as a result of the shelling, the press service said.
