Naftogaz agrees on financing, reserving additional volumes of gas for heating season – CEO

KYIV. Jan 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – During the World Economic Forum in Davos, NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy agreed to finance and reserve additional volumes of natural gas for the current heating season, CEO Oleksiy Chernyshov has said.

"We agreed with the EBRD on financing mechanisms for the purchase of additional volumes of gas needed by Ukraine; with our Western partners – the EBRD, Norway, the United States, Germany, France, Canada and the UK – on financing the purchase; with leading oil and gas companies – on reserving the necessary volumes," he wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

"Thank you partners for the strong support of Ukraine and our energy sector!" the head of Naftogaz added.

As reported, at the end of December 2022, Chernyshov announced an agreement to purchase 350 million cubic meters of natural gas from the Norwegian Equinor, another 100 million cubic meters purchased on the market from EBRD authorized sellers.

According to him, the next goal is to obtain an additional volume of up to 2 billion cubic meters of gas to generate electricity, the need for which arose due to the shelling of energy infrastructure.
