NACP checks declaration of SBU head Bakanov, reveals no unjustified assets

KYIV. Dec 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has conducted a full check of the declaration of Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov and did not establish any unjustified assets or signs of illegal enrichment, the SBU press service has reported.

"The National Agency on Corruption Prevention carried out a full check of the declaration of Head of the SBU Ivan Bakanov for 2020. The NACP found that the accuracy of the assessment of the declared assets corresponds to the data obtained from available sources. That is, no signs of unfounded assets have been identified. illegal enrichment," the SBU press service told Interfax-Ukraine.

At the same time, in the report on the results of the check, attention is drawn to certain minor inaccuracies in the declaration. For example, the declarant indicated several bank accounts, where there are insignificant funds in the amount of UAH 27.77, whereas, according to the law, this type of account does not need to be indicated.

"Regarding the information voiced in Pandora Papers, NACP notes: according to information dated May 5, 2019, the shares of Davegra Limited belonging to the subject of the declaration were alienated," the SBU said.

Thus, the SBU said that in general, signs of offenses provided for by Part 4 of Article 172-6 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (violation of financial control requirements) and Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (declaration of false information) were not found.
