MP Yasko visits Saakashvili in Georgia

KYIV. Oct 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – MP from the Servant of the People party Yelyzaveta Yasko, who is the common law wife of ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili, visited him in a Georgian prison.

"I visited Mikheil Saakashvili in Georgia. I am proud of him and his spirit. Today, the third president of Georgia, Saakashvili, is under illegal arrest in the city of Rustavi. This is completely unacceptable. He is a political prisoner, a citizen of Ukraine, in a country where, unfortunately, there is no fair judicial system! Now the Georgian people and the international community should act. The Georgian people must stand up for their president. This is a great struggle for the future of Georgia!" wrote Yasko on her Facebook page.

Yasko stressed that Saakashvili is a political prisoner and it is necessary that he be released.

"Mikheil is a person with a big heart and a great ability to make changes, reforms in Georgia and Ukraine! And he should be free!" noted Yasko.

Earlier, Saakashvili announced publicly about the decision to start a family with Ukrainian MP Yelyzaveta Yasko. Saakashvili spread the video message recorded together with Yasko through social networks on the day of his detention in Georgia.

Saakashvili was detained in Tbilisi on October 1. He is currently in prison in the city of Rustavi. In Georgia, Saakashvili is involved in several criminal cases.

Earlier, Saakashvili declared a hunger strike and stated that he did not intend to end it under any circumstances.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky intends to seek the return of the ex-president of this country, Mikheil Saakashvili, who was arrested in Georgia, to Ukraine, since he has Ukrainian citizenship.
