Moscow's daily COVID-19 case rate continues growing
MOSCOW. Sept 18 (Interfax) – Moscow has recorded 2,746 COVID-19 cases over the past day, this number is comparable with the figures of the first ten days of August, the coronavirus response headquarters said.
Friday saw 2,537 COVID cases. Therefore, the daily case rate in the city has increased by 209 cases or about 8%.
Saturday’s daily COVID-19 case rate in Moscow is comparable with the figures from the first ten days of August. A previous all-time high was recorded in the city on August 8, 2,761.
Last week has seen an increase in the daily COVID-19 case rate in Moscow.
As many as 51 patients diagnosed with coronavirus have died in Moscow in the past 24 hours. Moscow’s coronavirus death toll currently stands at 28,298.
As many as 1,280 Muscovites have been discharged upon recovery. A total of 1,472,259 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the Russian capital.
Friday saw 42 deaths and 1,359 recoveries.
The cumulative number of cases of COVID-19 recorded in Moscow stands at 1,599,404 as of September 18.
On July 23, Moscow Mayor Sergei said that the city had passed the peak of COVID-19.
Sobyanin said on August 13 that the number of hospitalizations among COVID-19 patients had more than halved from an all-time high seen in the second half of June. Amid the decreasing number of hospitalizations, the mayor announced an easing of the city’s coronavirus restrictions.
