More than 90% of Ukrainians have negative attitude towards Russia – poll
KYIV. Apr 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The vast majority of residents of all regions of Ukraine express a negative attitude towards Russia, according to the results of a sociological survey conducted by the sociological service of the Razumkov Center.
“A negative attitude is most often expressed towards Russia (94%), Belarus (81%), Iran (73.5%), China (60%), and Hungary (46.5%). The overwhelming majority of residents of all regions – from 90% of the inhabitants of the eastern region to 97% of the inhabitants of the central region – expressed a negative attitude towards Russia,” the center said in a press release on the results of the survey.
According to the survey, 95.5% of those who speak mainly Ukrainian language at home have a negative attitude towards Russia and 88% – among those who speak Russian at home.
At the same time, only 2% of respondents expressed a positive attitude towards the citizens of Russia, 77% – negative, and 14% – neutral.
“A positive attitude towards the citizens of Russia is expressed by 4% of the inhabitants of the eastern and southern regions, 2% of the inhabitants of the central region, and 0% of the inhabitants of the western region. A negative attitude is 70%, 56.5%, 80%, and 84%, respectively. A positive attitude towards Russian citizens was expressed by 0.6% of respondents who speak Ukrainian at home expressed, 5% of those who speak Russian, while 82% and 59.5%, respectively, have a negative attitude,” the Razumkov Center said.
In addition, the vast majority (97%) of respondents have a negative attitude towards the government and the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
At the same time, Ukrainians most often express a positive attitude towards Poland (94%), the UK (91%), Lithuania (91%), Estonia (90%), Latvia (90%), Canada (90%), the Czech Republic (88%), the United States (88%), the Netherlands (86%), France (86%), Germany (85%), Moldova (82.5%), Slovakia (82.5%), Israel (75%), Japan (74%), Turkey (72.5%), Georgia (70%), Romania (69%), Armenia (66%), Azerbaijan (65%). A relative majority (46%) has a positive view of India.
The sociological service of the Razumkov Center conducted the survey from February 22 to March 1, 2023, as part of the MATRA Program funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine.
The face-to-face survey was conducted in all regions of Ukraine, with the exception of the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson regions, Crimea, and the territories where hostilities are taking place.
Representatives of the social service of the Razumkov Center interviewed 2,020 respondents aged 18 years and more. The theoretical margin of error does not exceed 2.3%. At the same time, additional systematic deviations of the sample may be due to the consequences of Russian aggression, in particular, the forced evacuation of millions of citizens.
