More than 27 tonnes of fuel seized from Russian company that supplies Russian Defense Ministry

KYIV. Aug 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – More than 27 tonnes of fuel worth UAH 10 million have been seized from a Russian company and will be sent for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine (PGO) has said.

Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office carries out the procedural guidance of the criminal proceedings on the financing of forced seizure of state power and change of the state border of Ukraine, the PGO said on the Telegram channel on Friday.

"According to the investigation, the company, the ultimate beneficial owner of which is PJSC Gazprom Neft that supplies the Defense Ministry and other state agencies of Russia with fuel, has been selling fuel and lubricants in the territory of Ukraine. The business entity transfers the profit received in Ukraine to the budget of the aggressor country," it said.

The prosecutor’s office emphasized that Gazprom Neft is actively engaged in entrepreneurial activities in the territory of Ukraine through the Ukrainian PJSC. In particular, it carries out import operations, stores a significant amount of fuel and lubricants in warehouses and sells them wholesale to business entities in Ukraine.

"During authorized searches, documents confirming legal relations with a business entity of the Russian Federation, containers with oil marked Gazprom Neft with a total volume of 27 tonnes were found and seized. The cost of the seized products is around UAH 10 million. The seized goods will be transferred to the benefit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the PGO said.
