More than 1,000 Ukrainians tortured, killed by occupiers in Kharkiv region – ombudsman
KYIV. Sept 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – More than 1,000 citizens of Ukraine were tortured and killed in the residential areas of Kharkiv region that have been recently liberated from the Russian occupation, Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets has said.
"Speaking about the liberated territories in Kharkiv region in general, it is more than 1,000 citizens of Ukraine, including civilians," he told a press briefing in Izium, Kharkiv region, on Friday.
The ombudsman also said that in a few days the law enforcers will make public the exact number of Izium residents who were tortured and killed and whose bodies were found in the mass graves.
