Money supply in Ukraine decreases by 1.1% in Aug

KYIV. Sept 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The money supply in Ukraine in August 2021 decreased 1.1%, to UAH 1.903 trillion, while year-over-year it grew by 2.9%, according to preliminary data of monetary statistics on the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

According to them, the monetary base (reserve funds) over the past month grew by 1%, to UAH 654.731 billion.

The central bank also said that off-bank cash (M0) in August narrowed by 0.9%, to UAH 544.323 billion.

According to the NBU, the deposit portfolio of banks over the past month decreased 1.1%, to UAH 1.356 trillion, in particular by 0.7% (to UAH 880.689 billion) in national currency and by 1.9%, to UAH 475.808 billion in foreign currency.

At the same time, the loan portfolio of banks grew by 2.9%, to UAH 1 trillion, including by 3.8% (to UAH 700.773 billion) in the national currency and by 0.9% (to UAH 304.035 billion) in foreign currency, the NBU said.

According to the central bank, net international reserves in August rose by 15.3%, to $21.372 billion.
