Moldovagaz committed to fulfilling contractual obligations to Gazprom – Moldovagaz head

CHISINAU. Sept 19 (Interfax) – Moldovagaz is committed to fulfilling its contractual obligations to Gazprom, Moldovagaz CEO Vadim Ceban said on Telegram on Monday following his return from participating in the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum from September 13 to September 16.

Ceban said that he had several meetings with representatives of Gazprom’s management at which the supply of natural gas to Moldova was discussed along with Moldovagaz’s corporate activities.

"I emphasized the company’s commitment to strict fulfillment of contractual obligations and the necessity of signing an agreement on settling Moldovagaz’s historic debt to Gazprom," Ceban said.

Ceban did not speak on the amount of debt or how to deal with the results of the audit, which will only be ready in several months.

Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu said last week that there is a risk that gas supplies to Moldova could be cut off by Gazprom. Spinu said that Gazprom had not yet agreed to extend the timeframe for holding the audit of Moldovagaz’s debt past October 1, adding that "I failed to understand from the conversation with [Gazprom CEO] Alexei Miller whether gas supplies to Moldova will continue after October 1."
