Moldova sees inflation of 30.2% in 2022
CHISINAU. Jan 11 (Interfax) – Moldova had inflation of 30.2% in 2022, which was the highest figure for the republic since 2001, the press service of the National Bureau of Statistics reported.
Food prices surged 31.8% in 2022, non-food products grew 19.9%, and services soared 44%.
The largest price increases were for eggs at 59.1%, vegetables at 56.1%, sugar at 55.7%, and fruit at 48%.
The cost of fuel and combustible materials increased 35.9%. Utilities rose the most among other services, with electricity surging 2.7-fold and gas soaring 1.8-fold.
Average annual inflation was 28.7% in 2022.
