Ministry of Regional Development, UNDP sign memo of cooperation in assessing military destruction

KYIV. Sept 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Community and Territory Development of Ukraine and the United Nations Development Program signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation to strengthen the ability of local governments to collect information on damage and assess the damage caused by Russia.

According to the press service of the ministry, UNDP agrees to carry out damage assessment of buildings, infrastructure facilities and mapping, as well as support the development of an integrated geographic information system for monitoring regional renewal and development.

UNDP will support the collection of damage assessment data through remote sensing and drone image analysis, and will work closely with each regional state administration and territorial communities, which will help create effective response and recovery plans, maximizing the benefit from limited resources.

According to the report, at the first stage, an analysis of the destruction and processing of data in Sumy, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Kyiv, and Kharkiv regions will be carried out.
