Ministry of Infrastructure plans to launch freight car leasing program for Ukrzaliznytsia from 2022
KYIV. Nov 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, as part of the program for renewal pf the freight car fleet of Ukrzaliznytsia, plans to start leasing financing of this program from 2022, Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov has said.
"Next year, we are starting a large-scale program of renewal of the freight car fleet. This is 46,000 new gondola cars and grain carriers, the market is worth more than UAH 100 billion. We understand that this program will not work without an accessible and understandable leasing mechanism. We are laying it down for sure, we are planning it already in the 2022 budget," he said at the Big Construction: New Railroad Forum held in Kyiv on Tuesday.
According to the infographics given by the minister, within the framework of the program for the renewal of the freight car fleet in 2022-2028 it is planned to upgrade 31,200 gondola cars (including 1,500 cars in 2022) and 14,600 grain carriers (500 cars).
According to Kubrakov, all those involved in the chain of production and renovation of cars are Ukrainian enterprises.
"Today, the level of localization in the production of freight cars reaches 95%, and all enterprises in this chain are Ukrainian – from the production of small components to metal," the minister said.
