Ministry of Energy approves five members of MGU supervisory board

KYIV. Oct 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, by order No. 229 dated October 1, 2021, has appointed five members of the Supervisory Board of JSC Mahistralni Gazoprovody Ukrainy (MGU, Trunk Gas Pipelines of Ukraine).

According to the company’s announcement posted on Tuesday evening on the website of the Stock market infrastructure development agency of Ukraine (SMIDA), in particular, the former board chairman of Slovakia’s GTS operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. Jan Chadam, and a representative from the state – ex-Deputy Prime Minister and ex-Minister of Finance Viktor Pynzenyk.

The two new independent board members are lawyer Iryna Marushko (Marushko Law Office) and Huberte Bettonville, who have experience with the Belgian operator Fluxys, Interconnector (UK) Limited (a gas pipeline between the British terminal Bacton and the Belgian LNG terminal in Zeebrug) and Luxembourg-based Balansys.

In addition, the state in the supervisory board of MGU will be represented by ex-director for legal issues of JSC Ukrtransgaz and ex-director of the department of debt obligations of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy Tetiana Fedorova.

All members of the supervisory board are appointed for a period of three years.

As reported, on July 6, 2021, the nomination committee for the appointment of heads of enterprises that are especially important for the economy selected candidates for the supervisory board of MGU, who were approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine by order No. 812-r on July 21, 2021.

MGU owns 100% of Operator GTS of Ukraine LLC, formed as a result of the unbundling of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy. It is managed by the Ministry of Energy.
