Ministry of Education to conduct communication campaign to promote vocational education
KYIV. Sept 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In the current academic year, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine will launch several communication campaigns for various target audiences and will conduct a large-scale promotion of the All-Ukrainian competition WorldSkills Ukraine 2021.
According to the press service of the department in a press release issued on Thursday morning, the campaigns are launched to increase the prestige of vocational education. "In addition, the principles of changing the image of vocational education will also be discussed in the new Law on Vocational Education, which will update the terminology of the industry," Deputy Interior Minister Ihor Harbaruk said during a working visit to the Interregional Higher Vocational School of Road Transport and Construction Mechanization.
"Vocational education in the future must be innovative, equipped with the best equipment and able to provide knowledge of the European level. To do this, we are actively investing in updating the infrastructure of institutions: this year 62 vocational institutions will receive UAH 150 million to create training centers. We also improve the content and quality of vocational education, in particular, we develop a dual form of education and create educational standards together with employers. Also, in 2020 we plan to launch a platform for distance learning "Online Vocational Education". In addition to online courses on subjects, there will be a variety of master classes, and therefore, some lessons of industrial training can be held online," Harbaruk said.
It is reported that the new Law on Vocational Education proposes to change the term "pupil" to "student", as well as to change the name of the educational qualification "specialist" (specialist’s diploma) in the field of vocational education instead of the term "skilled worker").
The Ministry of Education and Science will also promote the social protection of students in vocational education institutions by doubling academic scholarships.
