Ministry of Agrarian Policy approves 20 grants for development of horticulture worth UAH 75.2 mln

KYIV. Aug 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has so far issued 20 orders to provide grants to agricultural producers from 10 regions for planting orchards and growing berries for a total of UAH 75.2 million.

As reported on the ministry’s website on Friday, the amount of grants for farmers varies from UAH 360,000 to UAH 10 million per recipient, the total area for future plantings is 257.44 hectares.

"Soon, 20 agricultural enterprises from 10 regions (Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Odesa, Kyiv, Chernivtsi, Cherkasy, Rivne, Volyn, Zakarpattia and Khmelnytsky regions) will grow gardens ranging from 1.34 to 25 hectares in their regions," the ministry said.

In total, during the program, Oschadbank processed applications from 115 agricultural enterprises, of which 80 were submitted for further consideration by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy: 64 for the development of horticulture and 16 for the development of greenhouses. At the same time, 12 out of 20 agricultural producers who agreed to receive a grant have already signed an agreement in a bank branch to receive financing and have opened appropriate bank accounts.

The ministry recalled that grants for the development of greenhouses allow agricultural entrepreneurs to attract up to UAH 7 million in funding, and up to UAH 10 million for planting orchards. In general, the state will allocate UAH 16 billion for their financing.
