Minister Solsky says cases of grain contracts termination should be taken easy
KYIV. Aug 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Agrarian Policy and Food Minister of Ukraine Mykola Solsky has recalled that the cases of parties refusing to implement grain export contracts often happened before the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, therefore he called on the public to take the cases of grain contracts termination easy.
The minister said this in a commentary to the Strana.ua news website on the situation with the refusal of a buyer in Lebanon to receive the Razoni ship loaded with 26,500 tonnes of corn.
"This is corn on board of a ship, which had been standing loaded since February. Any country would have questions about its quality which must be checked. The second thing is that it was a standard situation before the war, we saw several such cases per day. Nobody paid attention to them because everyone always haggles," the publication quoted the minister as saying.
Solsky expressed the hope that export of Ukrainian agricultural goods would stabilize if the Russian aggression does not escalate further.
"And the third thing: the grain on board of the ships, which have been standing since last season, must go first, and after that the new grain harvest will depart. We should take these situations easy. Time will pass and everything will come back to normal under condition that the circumstances that are clear to everyone would not hinder us," the minister said.
As reported, the Embassy of Ukraine in Lebanon said that on August 8 a buyer of Ukrainian grain, which was shipped on board of the Razoni vessel, refused to receive the freight. The shipper is looking for a new buyer in Lebanon or any other country.
