Minister of Culture: invaders destroy Khan's Palace in Bakhchysarai with new building, erase national memory
KYIV. Dec 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Russian occupation authorities are destroying the Khan’s Palace in Bakhchisarai (Crimea), Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko has said.
"The strategy of the Russians is to destroy historical memory. The Khan’s Palace in Bakhchysarai is a unique and only Crimean Tatar architectural monument, which is evidence of the existence, development, ethnogenesis of the Crimean Tatars in this territory. The invaders are destroying it. They are dismantling the roof and the ensemble of colored stained-glass windows of the Golden Cabinet, replacing the old roof modern building materials. That is, they are erasing the national memory with a new building," Tkachenko wrote in his Telegram channel.
The minister said the repeated drawing of UNESCO’s attention to the principles and actions of Russia, which is a permanent member of this organization.
