Mines of Donbas, Lviv region need either to be modernized or alternative found – Zelensky
KYIV. Oct 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has called the issue of Donbas an important component of the transformation of Ukraine, and at the same time noted the unprofitability of the mines in the region, which requires either their modernization, or the solution of the issue of employment of people who work for them, according to the website of the head of state.
"It is clear that they are unprofitable, but this is a question of people. It is necessary either to give them an alternative or to modernize these mines. There is such a problem in the Lviv region as well. We are working on it," the presidential press service quoted Zelensky as saying when speaking in Truskavets on Saturday, where a visiting session of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction was taking place.
The Head of State also said that two more airports are planned to be built in Donbas, which will be a temporary alternative to the airports in occupied Donetsk and Luhansk. He noted that a site has also been found for the airport, which will provide flights to Mariupol, because it is impossible to build an airport in the city itself due to security issues.
