MHP cuts poultry production 12%, sales up 9% in Dec

KYIV. Jan 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – MHP, which is Ukraine’s biggest poultry producer, reduced poultry production 12% month-on-month to 57,060 tonnes in December, Ukrainian media quoted the agricultural holding as saying in a stock exchange report.

Sales rose, by 9% to 65,960 tonnes.

Poultry production fell 17% year-on-year in December but sales were up 3%.

Exports fell 9% month-on-month and 9% year-on-year to 35,050 tonnes and accounted for 53% of overall sales, down from 63% in November 2022 and 57% in December 2021.

Sales in the domestic market rose 38% month-on-month and 11% year-on-year to 30,910 tonnes.

Average poultry sale price was $1.85 per kg in December 2022, unchanged from November, and $1.75 per kg in December 2021.

Meat processing products and convenience food sales rose 9% month-on-month but fell 37% year-on-year to 2,510 tonnes.

Sunflower oil sales grew 21% year-on-year and fell 37% month-on-month to 32,110 tonnes. Soybean sales rose 60% and 340%, respectively, to 5,360 tonnes.

MHP harvested 1.93 million tonnes of crops from 341,000 hectares in 2022, including 1.09 million tonnes of corn from 152,000 ha, 224,400 tonnes of wheat from 41,000 ha, 159,400 tonnes of sunflower from 62,600 ha, 109,200 tonnes of soybeans from 45,000 ha and 104,800 tonnes of rapeseed from 27,520 ha.
