Metinvest's Pivnichny Mining engaged in improving quality of pellets, reducing natural gas consumption in 2022
KYIV. Jan 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Pivnichny (Northern) Mining and Processing Plant (Kryvy Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region), which is part of the Metinvest group, despite the war in 2022, continued experiments to improve the quality indicators of its products and increase energy efficiency.
According to the company on Tuesday, the plant implemented a major solution to reduce natural gas consumption in 2022.
"In order to reduce gas emissions in accordance with the environmental legislation of Ukraine, a large-scale green building project was completed in the pelletizing shop and gas cleaning equipment was put into operation at all sources of emissions," the company said in the press release.
In addition, during the suspension of production, the mechanical equipment of the LURGI552A roasting machine was repaired with the restoration of the lining.
"Now the shop is completing the construction of a plant to replace natural gas with biofuel," the company said.
As reported, Pivnichny Mining and Processing Plant intends to replace natural gas with sunflower husks.
