KYIV. Dec 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Kamet Streel plant of the Metinvest mining and metallurgical group, created at the facilities of the Dniprovsky Metallurgical Plant (Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk region), is restoring blast furnace equipment of the repair and mechanical shop that was damaged due to an emergency blackout on November 23 due to Russian shelling of infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.

According to a report of the enterprise, electric and gas welders, repairmen, mechanics of mechanical assembly works, other specialists of the repair and mechanical shop work almost around the clock at the heat treatment and welding section, fulfilling an important order of the blast furnace shop. Repairmen restore tuyere coolers at the plant’s blast furnaces that were damaged during a general power outage.

At the same time, tuyere coolers are very important equipment for a stable technological process, designed for cooling hot blast lances in blast furnaces. As a result of a sharp power cut, the pumps supplying cold water through these refrigerators were forced to stop. The ultra-high temperature and the generated steam caused damage to the welding seams of the equipment.

In total, 35 tuyere coolers need to be repaired to restore a stable technological process. A significant part of the coolers have already restored by the shop’s specialists and returned to the blast furnace shop. The shop’s specialists continue repairs.
