Metinvest allocates UAH 30 mln for energy-efficient projects at Pivnichny GOK

KYIV. Sept 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Northern Mining and Processing Plant (Pivnichny GOK, Kryvy Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region), which is part of Metinvest Group, has invested UAH 30 million in the implementation of energy-efficient projects.

According to the company’s information, 5,000 lamps have been replaced at GOK’s pellet production shop No. 2. Modern lamps will help improve working conditions and reduce the plant’s energy costs.

Modern lighting is expected to reduce energy consumption by almost five times. According to the calculations of power engineers, the economic effect of the project implementation is about UAH 15 million per year. Therefore, during the operation of the workshop, the cost of installing LEDs will pay off already next year.

Industrial luminaires have a high level of protection against aggressive factors. The LEDs are vibration-resistant, withstand fluctuations in temperature, humidity and power surges. They are designed for 60,000 hours of continuous operation, which is a seven-year warranty. In addition, after the expiration date, they are disposed of at no additional cost.

"Pivnichny GOK continues to implement the energy saving program. Over the course of three years, modernization was carried out in all production workshops of the plant. Thanks to modern lighting, we improved working conditions and increased the level of safety for 2,000 employees. In addition to LEDs, we install electronic control system frequency converters on the equipment for the rational use of energy resources. Last year alone, thanks to innovative approaches, we reduced electricity consumption by UAH 30 million," Pivnichny GOK CEO Andriy Skachkov said.

At the same time, it is recalled that over the past three years, large-scale projects for the installation of LED lamps have been completed at two crushing and processing plants, in pellet production shop No. 1.
