Memorial to Kyiv residents killed in Donbas opened in Kyiv
KYIV. Aug 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine in Kyiv, at the corner of Hrushevskoho and Petrovska Alley Streets, a Memorial was opened in memory of Kyiv residents who died during the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) and the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) in Donbas, mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko said.
"Today, on the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, we opened the Memorial to the killed Kyiv residents – participants of the ATO/JFO. We built it on the corner of Hrushevskoho and Petrovska Alley Streets. Our common duty is to pay tribute and perpetuate the memory of our fallen heroes, those who laid down their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine," Klitschko wrote on Facebook on Sunday.
He clarified that 32,000 residents of the capital took part in the ATO and JFO in Donbas, of whom about 400 gave their lives for Ukraine.
