Memo of understanding between Ukraine's Ministry of Economy and U.S. Export-Import Bank signed

KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksiy Liubchenko and acting President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) James G. Burrows have signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the EXIM.

"The document is aimed at realizing the interest of Ukraine and the United States in enhancing economic cooperation, in particular trade in goods and services, by financing U.S. exports to Ukraine at the expense of federal funds," the press service of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday.

The memorandum provides for cooperation within the framework of projects in the infrastructure industry of Ukraine, agriculture, energy and digital economy.

"The parties intend to process the opportunities of using medium and long-term guarantees, as well as direct loans from EXIM to finance U.S. exports to Ukraine in the amount of $3 billion or another amount agreed by the parties," the press service said.

The document was signed during Zelensky’s visit to the United States.
