Members of Ukrainian Congress of Farmers receive 10 harvesters worth EUR 2 mln free of charge

KYIV. Aug 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Members of the Ukrainian Congress of Farmers nongovernmental organization received 10 combine harvesters worth EUR 2 million as part of the Zhnyva Peremohy (Reaping Victory) initiative.

The relevant deliveries under the memorandum signed between the Zhnyva Peremohy Charitable Foundation and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food to help Ukrainian farmers were reported on the ministry’s website on Friday.

"We will be able to save money during the harvest, which means that farmers and communities will receive additional income. We are incredibly grateful for this initiative to everyone involved. We hope this is only the first step and we look forward to the next ones, because the agrarian front is now just as important for the country and food security, as well as the military front," Head of Zhnyva Peremohy Ivan Slobodianyk was quoted by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

According to him, this supply of agricultural machinery became possible thanks to the help of philanthropist Howard Buffett and the initiative of Ukrainian MP Dmytro Solomchuk. The Zhnyva Peremohy project was a response to the unprecedented aggression of the Russian Federation against the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine.

As reported, U.S. businessman and philanthropist Howard Buffett, who visited Kyiv in June, met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

Buffett is the son of Warren Buffett, who is in the top five richest people in the world according to Forbes with a fortune of $118 billion.
