Medicine cost reimbursement program includes 62 new medicines
KYIV. Oct 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Since October 1, some 62 new medicines have been included in the Affordable medicines reimbursement program.
According to the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU), the program includes five new free medicines for the treatment of diabetes insipidus, and some 57 medicines for the treatment of mental disorders, behavior and epilepsy, including 18 medicines completely free of charge.
The National Health Service said these medicines can be obtained by electronic prescription at any pharmacy that has an agreement with the NSZU in the relevant direction of reimbursement. The cost of medicines will be reimbursed to the pharmacy by the NHSU.
Currently, electronic prescription medicines can be obtained in over 5,000 pharmacies for patients with diabetes insipidus and in over 4,900 pharmacies for patients with mental and behavioral disorders and epilepsy.
An electronic prescription for the necessary medicine for a patient with diabetes insipidus can be prescribed by an endocrinologist or a family physician with whom the declaration has been concluded; for a patient with epilepsy, neurotic disorders by a neurologist or psychiatrist; for a patient with mental and behavioral disorders by a psychiatrist.
The NSZU said the first electronic prescription must be prepared and submitted to the electronic health system of an individual treatment plan, in which an endocrinologist, neurologist or psychiatrist records the patient’s established diagnosis and prescribes the appropriate medications. Electronic prescriptions are generated on the basis of an individual treatment plan.
