Market of new commercial vehicles in Ukraine up by 37% in 2021 – Ukrautoprom

KYIV. Jan 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian fleet of new trucks and special vehicles in 2021 was replenished with 15,900 new vehicles, which is 37% more than in 2020, in particular in December their sales increased by 15% – to 1,873 units, Ukrautoprom says.

According to the information on the association’s website, Renault became the most popular brand of this market last year with 3,004 registered cars and an increase of 53% (in 2020, the brand was the second).

Citroen, which ranked second (versus fifth in 2020), increased its initial registrations 2.4 times – to 2,146 units, and in December the brand was in the lead with an increase in registrations by 2 times from December 2020 – to 372 vehicles.

In turn, according to the press service of Peugeot Citroën Ukraine distributor, last year Citroën became the leader in the Ukrainian light commercial vehicles market for the first time with a market share of 23.8%, increasing their sales by 2.2 times, to 3,014 units. In particular, as reported, in 2020 Ukrposhta purchased 1,860 Citroёn Berlingo L2 Worker cars with a total value of UAH 1.3 billion.

Ukrautoprom informs that the third place in the ranking of sales of commercial vehicles and trucks in 2021 was taken by the leader of 2020 Fiat with a drop in demand by 13%, to 1,743 units, the fourth – by Peugeot, whose registrations increased by 16%, to 1,306 units.

The top five of the new commercial vehicle market is closed by the Belarusian MAZ with 1,009 cars (up 33%).

In turn, the information and analytical group Auto-Consulting, analyzing the Ukrainian segment of new trucks weighing over 3.5 tonnes, notes an increase in their sales in 2021 by 30.4% – to almost 4,800 units.

"The last time so many such equipment was sold in Ukraine in 2019 (4,700 units) and in 2011 (5,200 units)," analysts say.

First of all, they state, the growth in the sales of trucks was facilitated by the Great Construction program, which required a lot of new special machinery, and the agricultural sector and territorial communities were also actively renewing their vehicle fleets.
