Lubinets plans to meet with Moskalkova in Jan regarding release of civilians from Russian captivity
KYIV. Jan 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets intends to meet with Russian Ombudsperson Tatyana Moskalkova in January to discuss the possibility of releasing civilians from Russian captivity.
"This month we will have a meeting with Moskalkova, at which we will separately discuss the issue of releasing civilians. There are many options developed on our part, but again, we do not know if Russia will agree to this," he said on the air of the national telethon on Monday.
At the same time, the Ombudsman stressed that the Ukrainian authorities are currently paying "special attention to the release of civilians."
"I would like to note that the Ukrainian state does not lose attempts to return civilians as well. The problem is not with us, but with Russia. Because Russia now wants a separate site for civilians. We will negotiate this," Lubinets added.
